My name is Sam Pearse. I have been married to the love of my life, Kirsten since I was 23 years old, and together we have two beautiful children.
My love for fitness began at the age of 6 when I would teach aerobics classes to my imaginary friends in the garden. Many of my childhood memories include using my mom’s workout books that she purchased, trying to fit the movements in the gap between my bed and the wall. Or waking up early to get my 10-minute workout in with the presenters of the early morning news show. Or even spending hours surfing the internet searching for the latest workout trends or programs. I had pages and pages, and books, filled with exercises that I would meticulously pour over and do.
When I left high school, I started teaching swimming, and I would spend two hours a day training in the gym before heading to work. When the opportunity arose to study group fitness, and become a water aerobics instructor, I leapt at the chance, adding multiple disciplines in group training, personal training and sports massage to my studies.
All the while, in my late teens and very early 20’s, as I trained, I ate what I wanted, when I wanted, how I wanted, often consuming massive burgers and fries multiple times a week. Although I understood the importance of exercise (maybe obsessively so), nutrition was still a mystery to me.
The beginning of 2002 was a tumultuous year for me, and it resulted in my leaving my job, and having a massive (at that time) life change. I could no longer afford my gym fees, and I started to experience panic attacks. I felt my life was spinning out of control. The only thing I could control was my eating. I began to eat my emotions. If I overate because I was anxious, overwhelmed, or feeling out of control, I would quickly purge the “offensive” food before it could affect the way I looked. It was at this time of my life that I met my future husband. He really helped me through that difficult time and kept me accountable before the disease could truly take hold of my life.
Fast forward a few years. My love affair with nutrition was truly awakened when I was diagnosed with PCOS and told that I was infertile. After years of hormonal therapies, invasive surgeries, and massive disappointments, I was told that I shouldn’t even try IVF, as it would not work for me.
That’s when I turned to nutrition, and truly understanding the power of what I eat. It worked for me! Nutrition changed the course of my life. I understood WHY I needed to eat correctly, but I still didn’t have all the pieces of the puzzle.
In March 2017, I was introduced to my now good friend, Mark Macdonald, and the picture was complete. Mark is a leader in the industry of fitness and nutrition, and he introduced me to the concept of eating PFC every 3. Finally, a method of eating that was based on the physiology of the body, something that was proven to balance blood sugar levels (which means balanced hormones – great news for me!) and it was completely sustainable! This has become our way of life! My husband, my children, and I all enjoy a PFC lifestyle, and now I aim to share it with you! I became an IBFNC internationally certified Health and Nutrition Coach, and my goal is to help you find freedom and confidence in your relationship with food!
My experience in life and in business, the ups and downs, the successes and the failures, have all taught me that I am in control of my life. I have the choice, at any given moment to change my life, and that is what I hope to encourage and inspire you with here. It is up to you. All you need to do is take the chance!
